Delorean Car Show, Memphis 2002

Here are some pictures I took at the show, mostly on Saturday. They are in alphabetical order by filename. It was a total blast. I hope you all had as much fun as I did. It was definitely the most DMC-12's I've ever seen in one place. I didn't get all of your names, and I definitely didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked to. If Ive screwed up or omitted your name, or you see a picture of you or your car and want to add a caption or be removed from the site, please feel free to email me at twinenginedmc12@gendreaumicro.com. Regrettably, I wrecked a roll of 15 pictures, so if I took your picture, and it's not here, that's why. These pictures may be reproduced at will.

Rick

This is my car right after Karen and I arrived, on Friday afternoon. It was a horrendous drive from New Hampshire.

Here is a Back to the Future Time Machine, very nicely done by Terry and Oliver Holler. I believe that's Oliver in the picture. It sat about 50 ft from the stage, which played part of the Back to the Future score continuously (until "Elvis" www.ryanpelton.com showed up to wow everyone)

This chevrolet 350 c.i. engine was very clean. The car sounded good driving off, too.

Here's Rich Weissensel's convertible, in progress. I enjoyed hearing how he intended to implement the hinging; I thought it was very clever. But that's his story to tell, not mine.

Several nice Deloreans

This is that Delorean with the 350 again, with the owner.

There was a lot of this kind of care going on in Memphis that weekend.

Chillin' with a Coolata... It was toasty Saturday.

This Titan, the D-REX, was hard to miss, towering several feet above all the other Deloreans (and any other car too, for that matter) Check out Rich, under the front bumper. His is the only Delorean that can double as a pavillion for shade.

Another D-Rex shot. This car has really cool strobing lights at night, too.

The Delorean. Gullwing doors rise effortlessly, beckoning you inside...

Here's Rich's hover-conversion. It was neato getting to see it run on Saturday morning.

It was really cool that Kathryn could come, with her partner and newborn. I was honored that she let me take her picture with my partially completed car.

Here she is again. I don't know whose car this is, but it's the one with the red accented wheels, that I liked a lot.

Ken(right) did a great job putting on the show.

Ken's Delorean. My wife Karen took this picture, because it marks the first time I ever DROVE (albeit 3mph), as opposed to CRAWLED UNDER, a DMC-12. Ken let me park it. It was a big moment for me.

This was one of the Concours Deloreans. It was REALLY well maintained. There were several Concours cars that were so nicely preserved that I had trouble telling them apart. I'm glad I didn't have to judge them. It pleases me to no end that there is a group of people who work so hard at keeping an accurate representation of the original, intended state of the car for future generations.

Red is kind of a nice color for a Delorean, isn't it?

This is Rich, who helped Ken, and Emceed some of the entertainment on Friday and Saturday.

Row upon row...

I got the scoop on this really nice Shelby Mustang. It was there because it's really nice, and the owner is a friend of Ken's. Well, that's good enough for me.

Reg, talking about Pearce Design Components' stainless frame.

The parking lots were quite a sight.

Curtis and his VNDIC8R. Rolling sculpture. Someday, 150 years from now, I bet this car will be in a museum somewhere next to one of the Concours cars.

This yellow Delorean was done up very nicely. The engine had a lot of polished aluminum, stainless steel, and chromium.
